We stayed here two nights. The hotel is not new. The men at the front desk as very business like, but we enjoyed our stay. The beds in our room were on tatami mats on the floor, which we were aware when we booked. We had some extra mattress pads in the closet, so we doubled them and they were very comfortable. Room was clean. Bathroom was basic. View of the lake was great. Each room has an individual thermostat. (We turned ours way down and had a window open in April.) Two chairs in the room. No modern extras, like a coffee maker or lights for the bed area which you can dim.
BREAKFAST. The breakfast alone makes this hotel worth the trip. Traditional Japanese breakfast served as a traditional Japanese breakfast. Two hot pots plus. VERY friendly women who obviously take great pride in the breakfast service.
Great location on the lake. Convenient for hiking and biking.

What an amazing place to stay!!! We had such a clear view of Mt Fuji, honestly felt like we wasted our time going to tourist locations because we could see the mountain better from our room. Get the mountain view room, there is nothing like waking up to Mt Fuji! The onsen was phenomenal, so private and relaxing. We both have tattoos and had no problems in the onsen.

We rented a car and drove from Tokyo to Yamanashi and for us it was perfect. We were able to see all 5 lakes in one day going from one to the other in succession.
The restaurants in the area offer a great variety of sushi, izakaya and bbq. There is also a great Omakase restaurant nearby the hotel called Fresh Water that offers a different experience to the usual tried and tested.
On the day of our departure back to Tokyo we decided to swing by Fuji Q Highland with low expectations - the theme park is legit with a great Naruto Village, high octane rollercoaster rides and from our own experience a great haunted house that lasts the majority of an hour to walk through.
Loved it. Would definitely revist the entire area.

Check the weather forecast before planning your trip to Kawaguchiko, as beside the view of Mt Fuji there's very little to do there, also restaurants are very rare and working hours is almost not existent, everything closes early or not open at all... so be mindful of the meals you should carry with you.

The view of the lake is absolutely stunning, but it's quite disappointed that we didn't catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji. It's always a good idea for travelers to check the weather beforehand.

This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. My boyfriend worked at 5-star hotels in the past and even he said the service at this hotel was impeccable. We were very lucky to see Mt Fuji from our room and the private onsen. We also loved the traditional Japanese room, the dinner and breakfast selection and being able to wear the yukata provided by the ryokan. Definitely the most authentic Japanese experience of our trip. We wish we had stayed longer than just one night. We will be back at this ryokan every time we visit Japan from now on.
The hotel has a very warm feel to it. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, there are bikes for rent. It has a relatively nice view of Fuji, and is next to the lake, which you can cycle around in about 2 hours. The hot spring bathhouse is decent and the water is very warm. All and all our stay was very pleasant and we would love to come again with our family, since it seems like smaller children would have a blast playing in this area. Rooms are traditional Ryokan style.
It’s is one of the biggest room we stay during our Japan trip. In the picture the hotel looked bit out of date , however in real it was much nicer ! Though it’s just a 2 start hotel , it can reach the same level as some of the 4 star hotel! we love it so much. The location was nice as well, many restaurants around. It will take some distance to see the prefect view of Fuji, however as a traveler without private car, we thought it was a prefect location to stay .
Hotel staffs is well prepared to welcome us. As we booked the Traditional Japanese's room with tatami, they helped us to prepare the beds to be ready for our rest, and explained the facilities in the hotel. Staffs is very polite and friendly. It was very great that they also provide free shuttle service to Kawaguchiko Station. The public shower area are able to see Fuji Mount, it was a great enjoy for us. Thank you for having us!
Fuji Mountain View from the hotel is very beautiful. You can see Mount Fuji with the lake view directly from the room. Room is very clean and big.
The location is convenient and hotel offers pick up from Kawaguchiko station.
Hotel staff is very helpful and make us feel super welcoming.
Lastly, the hotel offers long hours for nice hot spring from 3pm - 2am; 4am-10am
Overall I highly recommend this hotel
This hotel is in a great location. This hotel is for travellers who are travelling on a very limited budget. The rooms are typical old Japanese, shared bathrooms, (male & females together) large rooms with futons on the floor, this hotel is in need of a renovation, it is very grubby,. Very limited English spoken. Located on a very busy road .Also great views of Mt Fuji from your bedrooms.
The best view of Mt Fuji directly at your face. Loved the onsen, breakfast was superb and value for money, highly recommended to pay for breakfast as the restaurant outside opens late. Location is great as there are restaurants within walking distance and a shopping mall nearby. Hotel shuttle to kawaguchiko station is every 30mins from 8am-11am and upon request from 3pm-8pm.
The owner was really nice and friendly. We love the style of the hotel, it is Japan-Western style. The location is far from the train station, but we have no issue because we came by car, and it turned to be really nice and quiet to stay.
The room comes with a good size twin bed and good bathroom.
From the moment we walked to the front door to when we left the hotel, we were very guppy customers. The service was second to none and the facilities were fantastic. We loved our private bath with views of Lake Kawaguchio. The traditional Japanese breakfast was a wonderful addition to our stay.
Nicest hotel you’ll find in the area. Staff was amazing and extremely accommodating! I was given a ride to the nearby train station by one of the staff when they heard I was taking the bus. Delicious breakfast was provided as well. Onsen was great too! Can’t say enough good things about my stay!
real ryokan operation, good breakfast and it’s located in front of the lake and near the rope way. the shuttle bus will operate during 8-10 am only from/to Kawaguchiko Sta. to the hotel so pls schedule your time. the staff tried to help you in English but not good enough.
Great location, just in the main activity centre of Lake Kawaguchi. This is a small Japanese-style ryokan hotel and offers very personal and hospitable service, Both breakfast and (Kaiseki) dinner were good though not offering exquisite ingredients.
Free shuttle to and from Kawaguchiko station, view of mt. Fuji outside the hotel at the back, free buffet breakfast, tastes good, we love the curry rice and the bread, short walk to Kawaguchiko lake with the best view of Mt. Fuji, value for money
Very good traditional Japanese hotel with hospitality and onsens with a good view. We are happy that this reken was our first. The staff helped with many things. The food was awesome! The dinner is served in the room! View on Fudzi!) thank you)
Warmly host, cosy room, romantic vibe, clean room, private onsen for both gender, location nearby bus station number 17, unforgettable performance by hotel owner; the hotel owner is everything such as bartender, musician and receptionist😊😊
The staff is very friendly. The location is very good as walk 3 minutes from Kawaguchiko station. Nearby has 2 convenient stores. you can see the whole of Mt. Fuji at the front of the hotel if the weather is clear enough.
Wonderful view of the lake. Lovely old hotel with nice sitting rooms near the entrance. Great onsen open 24 hours. Friendly helpful staff. Free shuttle bus to the station. Great traditional Japanese room. Very spacious.
The mt. fuji view from the room is fantastic. Its a typical Japanese Ryokan so you can enjoy a Japanese style public bath and tatami room. The hotel is super clean. Staff is super helpful.
Fantastic to stay in a traditional Japanese hotel with futon, rattan floor and sliding doors. Location is excellent - right beside the lake and near to lots of places to eat
